How to enable Fullbright in Hytale - Increase brightness to the maximum in Hytale
The Fullbright mode allows you to activate a permanent maximum brightness in Hytale. This option removes the rendering of dark areas, significantly improving visibility in caves, during the night, and inside buildings.
It is an ideal tool for:
- 🏗️ Building
- 🛠️ Server administration
- 🎥 Content creation (video/streaming)
📁 Location of the configuration file
Before starting, you need to locate the Hytale user data folder. On Windows, you can quickly access it by copying this path into your file explorer:
%appdata%\Hytale\UserData
Note: The complete path usually looks like:
C:\Users\YourUsername\AppData\Roaming\Hytale\UserData
The file we are going to modify is named Settings.json.
🚀 Steps to follow
Follow these steps carefully to enable Fullbright mode.
🛑 Step 1 - Completely close Hytale
Important: Before any modification, fully close the game. If the game is open during the modification, Hytale will automatically overwrite your configuration when closing or restarting, undoing your changes.
🗑️ Step 2 - Delete the backup file
In the UserData folder (previously opened), locate and delete the following file:
Settings.json.back
Why? This prevents Hytale from restoring the old configuration (without Fullbright) on the next game launch.
📝 Step 3 - Modify the Settings.json file
- Open the
Settings.jsonfile with a text editor (Notepad, Notepad++, VS Code, etc.). - Find the
"BuilderToolsSettings"section. - Locate the following line:
"FullbrightEnabled": false
- Replace
falsewithtrueas shown below:
"FullbrightEnabled": true
💾 Step 4 - Save the file
Save the modifications to the Settings.json file (CTRL + S) and close your text editor.
▶️ Step 5 - Restart Hytale
You can now launch the game normally. Fullbright is active: all areas of the game will be perfectly lit, without shadows.
ℹ️ Important information
The Fullbright mode is designed to work specifically in creative and administrative game modes:
- Builder Mode
- Creative Mode
- Editor
It is particularly recommended for server administration, building complex maps ("terraforming"), or for shooting machinimas to ensure constant brightness.
