Prerequisites Before Connecting
Before joining a Hytale server, make sure you meet the following conditions:

Host Side (the one who invites)
- Start a game (new world or existing world).
- Press Escape to open the menu.
- Click on Share to generate a connection code.
- Click on Copy to Clipboard and send the code to your friends.
Player Side (the one who joins)
- From the main menu of Hytale, click on Servers.
- Select Join via Code.
- Paste the received share code.
- If a password has been set, enter it.
- Click on Connect.
⚠️ Warning: The share code contains the host's public IP address. Only share it with trusted people. The system uses the UPnP protocol to automatically configure the host's router.
Method 2: Direct Connection by IP Address
If you know the IP address of a server (dedicated server, server hosted by a provider like OuiHeberg), you can connect directly to it.
Steps
- Launch Hytale and click on Servers in the main menu.
- Click on Direct Connect at the bottom right of the screen.
- Enter the server IP address followed by the port, for example:
play.myserver.com:5520. - Click on Connect.
💡 The default port for Hytale is 5520 (UDP protocol). If the server uses this port, you can try to connect without specifying it. If the server uses a different port, the administrator will inform you.
Add the Server to Favorites
To avoid retyping the address each time:
- From the Servers menu, click on Add Server.
- Enter a name to identify the server and its IP address:port.
- Click on Add Server to save it.
- The server now appears in your Favorites list. Double-click on it to connect.
Method 3: Use the Server List
Hytale includes a server browser directly accessible from the main menu. This interface allows you to discover public servers and filter by game mode, number of players, or ping.
- From the main menu, click on Servers.
