Become admin and add mods to your Project Zomboid server.

Fast Project Zomboid server hosting, since 2018.
A Project Zomboid server keeps in memory the map your players explore, and Build 42 needs more of it than earlier versions. As a Project Zomboid server host, we run it on 3.70 GHz processors, DDR4 ECC memory from 10 GB and NVMe storage, with DDoS protection in front of every server. Your server runs in Marseille, Frankfurt, New York, Beauharnois or Sydney, close to your players. 24/7 support.

A question about your project? Our support answers 24/7.
Project Zomboid server hosting costs $9.26 to $17.38 per month depending on size, with Start 10 GB, Plus 12 GB and Pro 16 GB. The price includes DDoS protection, SFTP access, Workshop mods and support. For cheap Project Zomboid server hosting with a few friends, the Start plan is enough.
The best Project Zomboid server hosting gives you enough memory for Build 42, DDoS protection, NVMe storage, SFTP access to your files and the option to switch plans without losing data. Our three plans tick every box, from $9.26 to $17.38 per month, with support that answers 24/7.
Not with us. We offer neither free hosting nor a free trial. The Project Zomboid dedicated server is free on Steam, but hosting it at home means leaving a PC on all the time with a good connection. Renting a Project Zomboid server from us starts at $9.26 per month, with no commitment.
With a host like OuiHeberg, pick a plan and a country, then pay. Your server installs itself on Build 42 in about 10 minutes. Read your admin password in OuiPanel, adjust the .ini file if you want, then join the server in the game.Read the setup guide →
About 10 minutes the first time, while the server downloads the game, and 15 minutes on Build 41. After that, each startup takes 1 to 2 minutes, including the update check for the game and your mods.
No, but it is the easiest way. In a game hosted from the game itself, the host has to stay online for the others to play. A Project Zomboid dedicated server runs on its own, 24/7, and everyone joins whenever they want, with the world moving on for the whole group.
The Indie Stone publishes no figure for the server. On our servers, Build 42 needs about 9 GB at its busiest moments, for example while loading the world. That is why our plans start at 10 GB. The server reserves almost all of its memory right from startup, which is how the game normally works. Plan on 12 GB for a modded community and 16 GB for 32 players or a big modpack.
32 by default, the game's setting. You change it with MaxPlayers in the server's .ini file. The game warns that above 32 players, map loading and syncing can get worse. Our plans change the memory, and so the recommended number of players: up to 10 on Start, 10 to 20 on Plus, 20 to 32 on Pro.
In the game, open Join and add your server's IP address and port, shown in OuiPanel. Choose an account name and a password for this server, then log in. To show it in the public server list, set Public to true in the .ini file, then restart.Read the setup guide →
The admin account is created with your server. Its name, admin, and its password are in the OuiPanel variables. Join the server with these credentials and you have every permission. To give them to a friend, type /setaccesslevel followed by their username and the word admin in the game chat.Read the setup guide →
Open the server's .ini file, in .cache/Server, from the OuiPanel file manager or over SFTP. Add each mod's number to WorkshopItems and its ID to Mods, separated by semicolons, then restart. The server downloads the mods by itself at startup and picks up their updates at every restart. Mods remain unsupported by us.Read the setup guide →
On the mod's Steam Workshop page, the number for WorkshopItems is the one after id= in the address. The ID for Mods is often given at the bottom of the description, on the Mod ID line. On Build 42, the game writes a backslash in front of each ID, for example \BB_CommonSense.Read the setup guide →
No. The game downloads the server's mods for them from the Steam Workshop when they join. They only need the same version of the game as the server.
Build 42, the stable version of the game, multiplayer included. The server and the players need the same version. With automatic updates, your server follows the latest Build 42 version at every startup. Build 41 is still possible, see the next question.
Yes. In the OuiPanel variables, set Steam Beta Branch to legacy41, then reinstall the server. To go back to Build 42, set it to public, without leaving it empty, and reinstall. A Build 42 world does not open in Build 41, and your friends need to switch the game to the same branch in Steam.Read the setup guide →
Yes. The automatic update downloads the latest version of the game at every startup, and the server also picks up the updates of your mods. After a game update, restart the server, or schedule a restart every night.
The name players see is set with PublicName in the .ini file. Do not change the Server Name variable in OuiPanel: it is the name of the server's files, and changing it starts a new world.
In the .ini file, the Password line protects access to the server. Left empty, the server is open to everyone. For a whitelist, set Open to false: you then create each player's account yourself. Save, then restart.Read the setup guide →
Yes. Your dedicated server runs 24/7, even when you are offline. Your friends join the game whenever they want.
In France in Marseille, in Germany in Frankfurt, in the United States in New York, in Canada in Beauharnois and in Australia in Sydney. The three plans are available everywhere, at the same price. Pick the country closest to your players.
From OuiPanel, on demand or scheduled, for example every night. Start keeps 2 backups, Plus 3 and Pro 10. You restore a backup from the same page, and the server starts again on the saved world. Depending on the server size and the time of day, a restore takes from a few minutes to several hours. Make a backup before adding mods or switching versions.
Yes. Moving to a bigger plan resizes your server with no reinstall and no data loss, in the same country.
Yes. Every Project Zomboid server rental includes DDoS protection, up to 3 Tbps, at no extra cost. Keep your admin password to yourself, it gives every server command.
Yes. In OuiPanel, the Subusers page invites a friend by email, with the permissions you choose, such as the console and the files. They do not need your account.
