Our methodology
Comparison built from the official pages of the six hosting providers, consulted in August 2026, using a 4 GB RAM reference plan. Criteria: recorded price, included resources (CPU, storage), server locations, backups, DDoS protection and support. Positions are based on published specs and prices, not on lab benchmarks: none of the six servers was ordered or benchmarked for this comparison. USD to EUR conversions use the August 2026 ECB rate.
International prices change frequently (first-month promotions, recurring discounts, different renewal prices): always check the recurring price before ordering. No provider listed here pays us to appear in this ranking. The comparison is reviewed every year. To test the connectivity of the OuiHeberg network (AS208226) yourself, a public Looking Glass is available at lg.as208226.net.
How to read this comparison: the 4 groups of criteria
Real price for 4 GB, not teaser pricing
The six plans are compared at equal RAM (4 GB), on the price actually recorded: first-month discount at Apex ($11.24 USD, then $14.99 USD/month), recurring monthly discount at Shockbyte, a price tied to 24 months prepaid at Hostinger. USD to EUR conversions use the August 2026 ECB rate. Always check the recurring price and the commitment terms before ordering.
Published resources: CPU, storage, limits
We only report what each host publishes: guaranteed vCPUs or an unpublished allocation, a stated storage capacity or an "unlimited" one subject to fair use. When a CPU model is not contractually tied to the plan, we say so rather than making one up. Since Minecraft's main tick is single-threaded, CPU clock speed matters more than core count.
Server locations
Distance to the datacenter directly affects your players' latency: the closer the server, the more responsive the game, especially in PvP. We list the location used for each plan, without publishing ping measurements we did not take. To test the connectivity of the OuiHeberg network yourself, use the public Looking Glass (lg.as208226.net).
Backups, DDoS protection and support
Minecraft servers are frequent DDoS targets: included protection is non-negotiable. Also check the backups (automatic or manual, number of slots) and the support language: the international hosts in this comparison answer in English, while OuiHeberg answers in French 24/7 by ticket.
Which host for your profile?
The "best" Minecraft host depends on how you play. Here is our reading for the four most common profiles, based on the six plans compared.
Just starting out, server with friends (2-5 players)
OuiHeberg Start at €1.99 incl. VAT/month: 4 GB of RAM, servers in Marseille, French-speaking support and a simple panel. Always avoid 1 GB RAM plans, which fall short even on vanilla with 3 active players. On an international budget, PebbleHost Budget 4 GB ($4.00 USD/month, around €3.43) is the cheapest monthly alternative we studied.
Community server (10-30 players, vanilla or light plugins)
OuiHeberg: servers in France, support in French 24/7 and Game DDoS protection to absorb the attacks that target public servers. BisectHosting (BisectOne) is the credible alternative if you are comfortable in English: plenty of locations to choose from and a full-featured panel.
Modded server (Forge, Fabric, heavy modpacks)
Beyond 4 GB of RAM, compare the higher tiers. On the panel side, OuiHeberg (1-click mods and modpacks via OuiPanel), Apex Hosting and BisectHosting (very extensive modpack catalogs) are the best equipped. Always check the RAM recommended by the modpack before picking a plan size.
Technical user (root access, multiple instances)
Hostinger Game Panel 1 is the only plan in this comparison that provides a VPS with root access: total freedom for proxies, multiple instances and custom setups. The trade-offs: 1 vCPU, a price that requires 24 months prepaid, and administration left to you. OuiHeberg remains the simple choice if a managed panel is all you need.
Minecraft hosting FAQ
Among the six plans studied, OuiHeberg has the lowest price with 4 GB of RAM at €1.99 incl. VAT/month. PebbleHost comes next with its Budget plan at $4.00 USD/month, around €3.43 at the ECB rate used in this comparison.
OuiHeberg is ranked first according to the editorial criteria of this comparison: a public price of €1.99 incl. VAT/month, 4 GB of DDR4 ECC RAM, two vCPUs, 20 GB NVMe, a Marseille location, daily backups, DDoS protection and French-speaking support. This position is not based on an independent benchmark.
Marseille is the French location used in this comparison. OuiHeberg's Minecraft page also lists Frankfurt, New York, Beauharnois and Sydney for its Minecraft/OuiBox solutions. The exact availability of a location should be checked at the time of ordering.
Vanilla with 5 players: 2 GB. Vanilla with 20 players: 4 GB. Light modpack (under 50 mods): 6 GB. Heavy modpack (ATM9, Create Above and Beyond): 10 to 16 GB. Rule of thumb: always leave 20% headroom above the usage measured under real load. 1 GB RAM plans are undersized for anything beyond a solo test.
Not for serious use. Free servers start on demand (a 1 to 3 minute wait), shut down when idle, have limited performance and no DDoS protection. For a server that is always available for friends, the paid entry point (~€2/month) is well worth it: instant startup, stable ping, no interruptions.
With a host offering 1-click modpacks: pick the modpack in the panel, click install, wait 2 to 5 minutes. Without that feature: download the server pack from CurseForge, upload it via FTP and configure the startup manually. The 1-click route saves 30 to 60 minutes and eliminates version mistakes.
Under 50 ms: optimal comfort, instant blocks, smooth PvP. Between 50 and 100 ms: playable on vanilla, noticeable discomfort in PvP. Above 100 ms: visible lag, unplayable PvP, frequent rubber-banding. From Paris, a host with a New York datacenter gives ~80-100 ms; a datacenter in France gives 5-15 ms. The difference is felt immediately in game.
Premium mode (Mojang authentication) protects against fake accounts and identity spoofing: it is the default recommendation. Cracked mode (offline-mode=true) accepts unofficial accounts but exposes you to serious security risks. If you must accept both, add the AuthMe plugin for local authentication of non-premium accounts.
1. Full backup (world, plugins, configuration). 2. Download via FTP. 3. Create the server at the new host with the same Minecraft version. 4. Upload the files via FTP. 5. Test before giving players the new address. Allow 30 to 60 minutes for a server under 5 GB. Most hosts assist with migration on request.
