MikroTik RouterOS is a Linux-based router operating system that transforms your VPS into a professional router. It offers advanced routing, firewall, VPN, QoS and traffic management features, all through a graphical interface (WinBox/WebFig) or command line.
We install the latest stable version of MikroTik RouterOS (currently v7.x). The system can be easily updated through the RouterOS interface. The CHR (Cloud Hosted Router) license is included with your VPS.
You can access your MikroTik router in several ways: via WinBox (Windows/Wine application), WebFig (web interface), SSH or the RouterOS API. Credentials and IP address are provided when your VPS is delivered.
Yes, RouterOS fully supports BGP (Border Gateway Protocol). You can announce your own IP prefixes, establish BGP sessions with external peers, configure route filters, BGP communities and use AS-PATH prepending.
MikroTik RouterOS supports all major VPN protocols: IPsec (site-to-site), OpenVPN, L2TP/IPsec, PPTP, SSTP and WireGuard. You can create VPN servers, VPN clients or site-to-site tunnels to interconnect your networks.
For basic usage (simple routing, VPN), 2 GB RAM and 2 vCPU are sufficient. For advanced routing with BGP full table or many simultaneous connections, we recommend at minimum 4 GB RAM and 4 vCPU. Requirements increase with the number of firewall rules and queues.
