Set up a FiveM whitelist with Discord and txAdmin

📋 Introduction

A Discord role whitelist is the simplest option for an RP server. Only players with a specific role on your Discord can connect. You approve an application, the player gets the role, and they are in. No license to copy, no command to type.

This guide uses txAdmin, which comes with your FiveM server at OuiHeberg, and Toscio, a free Discord bot that handles applications. It was put together with the Toscio team.

✅ What you need

  • Your OuiHeberg FiveM server on the Legacy channel, starting with its license key (see our Keymaster FiveM guide)
  • A Discord server where you have the Manage Server permission
  • 15 minutes

First, turn on Discord Developer Mode in User Settings → Advanced. It lets you copy the IDs you will need.

🎭 Step 1: create the role that opens the door

In Server Settings → Roles, create a Whitelisted role. Right-click it, choose Copy Role ID and keep that number handy.

🤖 Step 2: create a Discord bot for txAdmin

txAdmin checks roles through a Discord bot you create yourself.

  1. On the Discord Developer Portal, click New Application.
  2. In the Bot tab, click Reset Token and copy the token. Keep it secret, as it gives full control of the bot.
  3. Still under Bot, turn on Server Members Intent and save. Without it, txAdmin cannot see roles.
  4. In the OAuth2 → URL Generator tab, tick bot, open the generated link and invite the bot to your Discord.

🛡️ Step 3: turn on the whitelist in txAdmin

Open txAdmin

At OuiHeberg, txAdmin opens in your browser, at your server's IP address followed by its txAdmin port. You will find this port in OuiPanel.

  1. In OuiPanel, open your FiveM server, then Configuration → Port Management. Your server has two ports. The primary port is for players, the second one is for txAdmin.
  2. In Configuration → Server Settings, check that TXADMIN_ENABLE is set to 1 and that TXADMIN_PORT holds that second port. If you change a value, restart the server.
  3. Open the address in your browser, with your server's IP and txAdmin port. For example http://203.0.113.10:40120.
  4. On your first login, txAdmin asks for a PIN code. It is shown in your server's Console in OuiPanel.

💡 txAdmin is only available on the FiveM Legacy channel. On the Enhanced channel, the server runs without txAdmin. You choose the channel in FiveM Configuration, in OuiPanel.

Connect the bot and choose the whitelist mode

In txAdmin, open Settings.

  • Discord tab: turn on Discord Bot, paste the token into Token and your Discord server ID into Guild/Server ID. To get it, right-click the server name and choose Copy Server ID. Save.
  • Whitelist tab: set Allowlist Mode to Discord Server Roles. Paste the role ID into Allowlisted Discord Roles. In Allowlist Instructions, tell players where to apply. Save.

⚠️ Give the Whitelisted role to yourself and your staff before reconnecting. Otherwise txAdmin will refuse you too.

📝 Step 4: handle applications on Discord with Toscio

The last part is giving the role to accepted players. Toscio takes care of it.

  1. Add Toscio to your Discord from toscio.com.
  2. In Server Settings → Roles, move the Toscio role above Whitelisted. A bot can only give roles below its own.
  3. Run /toscio setup and pick the RP whitelist template, the channel where players apply, a private staff channel and the Whitelisted role.

Players click Apply and fill in the form. Your staff accept, decline with a reason, or open a private interview thread. On acceptance, Toscio gives the role and sends the player a DM. They can connect right away.

❓ Troubleshooting

“You do not have the discord identifier”

The player must open the Discord desktop app, not the web version, before launching FiveM.

An accepted player is still refused

Check the role ID in the Whitelist tab of txAdmin. Also check that the player connects with the same Discord account they applied with.

Toscio cannot give the role

Move the Toscio role above Whitelisted in your Discord roles.

txAdmin does not save the Discord settings

Turn on Server Members Intent in the Bot tab of the Discord Developer Portal.

The txAdmin page does not open

Check that your server is on the Legacy channel and that TXADMIN_ENABLE is set to 1. Use the txAdmin port, not the game port, and an address starting with http://, not https://.
